Responder Mental Health, Oregon Wildfires round out RaCERS Fall seminars
The Christian Regenhard Center is pleased to announce our remaining Fall semester events.
First, on November 18, John Jay’s Gabrielle Salfati will discuss the notion of resilience as it applies to responder mental health. Salfati, a psychologist, works with law enforcement officers and is currently leading a statewide initiative on officer mental health and resilience. She will have a discussion of the effects of covid, social movements, and other stressors on law enforcement officers, and will distinguish between practices designed around PTSD, versus moving to a more proactive concept of resilience. Her work shows great promise for emergency responders of all kinds.
On December 8, we will be joined by our Advisory Board Member Andrew Phelps, Director of Emergency Management for the State of Oregon. Andrew will present on the historic wildfires that ravaged his State staring in September 2020. This is a must-attend, and will be an unparalleled opportunity to learn first-hand from a principal involved in this challenging series of events.
You can sign up for both events here.
