9-1-1 Recordings – To Release or Withhold: Journalistic, Legal, Public Safety, and Family Perspectives
November 2014 – “9-1-1 Recordings – To Release or Withhold: Journalistic, Legal, Public Safety, and Family Perspectives”
An unprecedented collection of legal experts, journalists, public safety researchers, and family members addressed the topic of policies and practices related to release of 9-1-1 call recordings and other documentary evidence from emergencies. The lack of guidance on this subject has created widely varying practices from State to State and even between agencies. The importance of releasing raw information to aid in public understanding, supply researchers, and help improve practice were stressed in this day-long event held at the College on November 14, 2014.
