“Dangerous Views: 21st Century Challenges in Tall Building Fire Safety”
The College organized a day-long event devoted to emerging fire safety challenges associated with the new generation of super-tell, and super-thin high-rise buildings. The Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Jose Torero of the University of Queensland, Australia. Other speakers included James Hodgens of FDNY, Prof. Norman Groner and Adjunct Faculty member Jack Murphy of John Jay College’s Department of Security, Fire, and Emergency Management, Fire Protection Engineer James Quintitere of the University of Maryland, and Jake Pauls, human egress expert. Among the highlights of the program was a demonstration of firefighting equipment by the FDNY’s High-Rise Unit. The Christian Regenhard Center organized and hosted the event. Drexel University was a supporting co-sponsor of the day-long event.
