RaCERS Marks Passing of James “Jimmy” Boyle, Inaugural Board Member

Jimmy Boyle, a monumental figure in the FDNY, and nationally, is reported by his union, the Uniformed Firefighter’s Association of New York City (UFA) to have died at the age of 80. Jimmy was twice elected President of the UFA, and is widely credited with making major strides for safety for firefighters in New York City and beyond.

Sally Regenhard, who met Jimmy after 9/11 when both were mourning the loss of their sons, said the following “Jimmy Boyle was a dear friend, kind and gracious, a gentleman, a steadfast advocate for the rights of parents of 9/11 firefighters, and shared the quest for accountability and responsibility regarding the myriad issues of 9/11.”

“We will remember him as an outstanding and compassionate human being and a person who strongly supported the Christian Regenhard Center at John Jay College,” she added.
