RaCERS Staffer Corbett quoted on Surfside, Florida High-Rise Collapse
RaCERS Staffer and Executive Board Member Glenn Corbett was interviewed on CBS News, providing expert analysis on the collapse of the 12-story Champlain Towers building in Surfside, Florida on June 24, 2021.
Corbett discussed engineering aspects of the failure, and the likely investigative process. Ironically, Corbett provided background on the National Construction Safety Team, a part of the United States Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) which was enabled following post-9/11 legislation which he and the Center’s founder, Sally Regenhard, worked toward passage of the original federal legislation.
Corbett is Associate Professor teaching in the Fire Science, Emergency Services, and Emergency Management programs at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
