Prof. Shamik Segupta, an affiliated research faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at University of Nevada, Reno, discussed his ongoing research in development of hardware and protocols for cognitive radio. He provided an introduction to the field, and discussed challenges to implement cognitive radio in the field. This was an authoritative talk on the future of public safety radio communications. An in-depth questions-answer and discussion session included representatives from New York-area public safety communications experts. Sengupta recently received an early career grant from the National Science Foundation to advance his work.
