Disaster Risk Management in the Caribbean

About This Event

Denise Thompson, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Public Management at John Jay College, will discuss the processes of disaster risk management in the Caribbean. The complexity of small island states, international relations, and vulnerability to extreme weather make disaster governance and management issues of constant concern. She will also offer initial reflections on the ongoing response and recovery from Hurricanes Irma and Marie.

Her research includes logistics management in the Carbbean, and she is an affiliated faculty of the Christian Regenhard Center for Emergency Response Studies (RaCERS).
