RaCERS Board Member, Faculty Author Assesment of National Active Shooter Standard NFPA 3000
Board Member Clark Kimerer, and RaCERS faculty Glenn Corbett and Charles Jennings authored an article entitled “NFPA 3000: A First Step Down a Long and Perilous Path” published in the October 2018 edition of http://fireengineering.com.
The article took a critical initial review of the National Fire Protection Association’s Provisional Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program.
The Article reviewed the standard’s requirements and identified challenges in implementation facing communities or institutions that adopt the document. Importantly, the article identified the crucial need for additional first responder community engagement in the standard process.
