The Christian Regenhard Center proudly co-sponsored and help organized the Scott Hovey memorial lecture on 10/19/2016. To honor the memory of Scott Hovey, an innovator behind the development of Enhanced 9-1-1 services, his mentor Rob Shumate delivered an address covering the history and backstory of Enhanced 9-1-1, the first real-time police computing system, and the future f public safety communications. Shumate, a well-known innovator, has a long career spanning law enforcement, the development of the first police real-time computing center, computer aided dispatch systems, and interoperability and data sharing technologies. Police, Public Safety & Computing: Reflections of a Trailblazer

Council member Elizabeth Crowley attended and in addition to her remarks on the City’s 9-1-1 system, presented Shumate with a proclamation honoring his over 50 years of work in public safety.
