September 2015 – “Past, Present, and Future Roles of FEMA” 
On September 18th, Jerome Hatfield, Regional Administrator (Region II) of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, discussed FEMA’s evolving role in all phases of emergency management at John Jay College. As Regional Administrator he is responsible for managing all aspects of emergency management for the States of New York and New Jersey; the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; the Territory of the United States Virgin Islands; as well as the Native American Tribes in the Region. During his discussion, Mr. Hatfield emphasized the value of partnership and bridging the gap between communities and emergency response agencies. His new approach has actively engaged traditional and non-traditional stakeholders in seeking new and innovative approaches in addressing current and future crisis, risk and threat.
