Dr. Onieal, a native of the greater New York area, and the longest-serving Superintendent of the National Fire Academy, will speak on “The Future of the Fire and Emergency Services.” The changing social and economic structure of the United States will pose unprecedented challenges to public safety delivery systems – in this talk Dr. Onieal will offer his perspectives from his unique vantage point as the United States’ highest-ranking official charged with the “professional development of the fire and emergency response community and its allied professionals.”

Onieal, who had a distinguished career with the Jersey City (NJ) Fire Department, has a Doctorate in Education from New York University. Onieal is widely regarded as one of the leading thinkers in the American fire service and has received numerous academic and professional awards.
